Co-working firm WeWork will open a location at 222 S. Riverside Plaza, the firm’s ninth location in Chicago. The new 60,000-square-foot office will have more than 1,100 desks across the 15th and 16th floors.
“We’re thrilled to announce WeWork 222 S. Riverside as our ninth Chicago location,” said Megan Dodds, Midwest general manager for WeWork. “Located just blocks away from Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and access to I-90 and I-94, WeWork 222 S. Riverside will give WeWork members beautifully designed workspace, great amenities and ample transportation options.”
The building’s owner, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, recently implemented a $50 million capital improvement program on the the 40-story building. These include a new tenant lounge, lobby transformation, modernized dispatch-style elevators and a new plaza on the river that makes it practical and convenient to enjoy some nature in the heart of the West Loop.
Currently, WeWork operates eight locations across Chicago, spanning the neighborhoods of River North, The Loop and Fulton Market. The company most recently leased up space at 515 N. State Street and 330 N. Wabash Avenue, both owned and operated by Beacon Capital Partners.
