Tommy Choi named 2019 president of The Chicago Association of REALTORS

The Chicago Association of REALTORS (C.A.R.) welcomed Tommy Choi of Keller Williams Chicago – Lincoln Park as its 2019 president for a one-year term, beginning yesterday, October 1. He was installed on September 12, 2018 at the association’s 135th Annual Inaugural Gala. Choi is C.A.R.’s first Korean-American president.

In 2007, Choi co-founded Weinberg Choi Realty with business partner Josh Weinberg. In 2015, he went on to found Keller Williams Chicago – Lincoln Park with partners Weinberg, Joe Zimmerman and Mary Haight, applying his extensive knowledge from growing up in Chicago’s Mayfair, North Shore and Lakeview neighborhoods and successful marketing career with CDW.

“Part of our strategic plan moving forward and our promise to you all,” Choi said, “is to continue to protect our community and network of people that are going to push you to be better, widen the funnel and be inclusive…to make sure we are raising the bar as an industry and being the true ‘voice of real estate’ in Chicago.”

Choi attributes his success, including his appointment as president, to his career-long commitment to these principles and the support from his loved ones and colleagues. For his leadership and innovation in the community, Choi was honored as “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2013 by the Women’s Council of REALTORS and with the C.A.R. “Community Service Award” in 2014.

Choi is engaged in a wide range of real estate organizations. In addition to his role on C.A.R.’s board of directors, Choi is also actively engaged with the Chicago Community Trust “On the Table” program, the development board for the Academy for Global Citizenship, Asian Real Estate Association of America and the Women’s Council of REALTORS. Previously, Choi was the chairman of the board for C.A.R.’s Young Professionals Network and the former associate board vice president of Chicago Gateway Green.
