Senior Lifestyle Corporation, an owner, operator and developer of senior living communities, and Kaufman Jacobs, a Chicago-based, privately held real estate investment firm, have begun construction on The Sheridan at Oak Brook. The project, which is the fourth joint venture development between Senior Lifestyle and Kaufman Jacobs, has a target opening of early 2021.
The Sheridan at Oak Brook will feature 127 independent living apartment homes, 59 assisted living apartment homes and 14 memory care residences developed specifically to support those with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-impairing illnesses. The community will be the only dedicated, purposefully designed independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Oak Brook and will include top-tier amenities such as an open-concept design, dining and living rooms, spacious apartments, a bar and bistro with a pizza oven, an on-site theater, game rooms, walking paths and a memory garden.
“We are excited to break ground on this community. It will reimagine senior living for Oak Brook and DuPage County as the pinnacle of sophistication in senior housing,” said Matthew Phillips, executive vice president of development for Senior Lifestyle. “The Sheridan at Oak Brook will be a part of our elite Signature Collection. We will offer unsurpassed luxury to meet the refined personal needs of our residents.”
With five stories designed to create an exclusive living experience and complement the local urban feel, The Sheridan at Oak Brook will be Senior Lifestyle’s most modern development to-date. In addition to providing elite, best-in-class living options for the growing Oak Brook, Illinois affluent senior population, The Sheridan at Oak Brook will also create more than 100 new jobs in the community. The 215,000-square-foot retirement community will sit on 4.5 acres of land near major shopping malls and dining destinations.
