West Elm joins roster of merchants at Mellody Farm

Mellody Farm, Chicagoland’s largest and most recent ground-up retail development, has added West Elm to its merchant roster. A global design and lifestyle company with a commitment to conscientious design and sustainability, West Elm will occupy an 11,000-square-foot space at the center. West Elm, along with several other recent leases, brings the 270,000-square-foot experiential center to nearly 95 percent leased.

New coffee roaster to open in Grand Rapids area

After a decade of working in Chicago’s coffee industry, business partners and Michiganders Alex Burbo and Rosie Quasarano moved back to their home state to launch Littlefoot Coffee Roasters. The coffee company will open a roasting facility and warehouse at 3047 Broadway Ave. SW in Grandville, Michigan, by the end of August, according to Colliers International|West Michigan.

Brian Ross joins Starwood Retail Partners as SVP of leasing

Starwood Retail Partners (SRP), the retail operating platform formed by private investment firm Starwood Capital Group, has named Brian Ross senior vice president of leasing. In his new position, Ross will be responsible for the management of SRP’s leasing team, all retail leasing and business development, as well as the strategic planning for all property merchandising, approval of lease transactions, tenant allowance capital and oversight of third-party brokers.

Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s investment sales team recently brokered the sale of Midway Square in Chicago. The 55,332-square-foot retail center was purchased by Denver-based Plaza Fiesta, LLC. The established shopping center is located in an urban neighborhood at the southeast corner of Pulaski Road and 51st Street, just adjacent to the Chicago Transit Authority’s Pulaski “L” station.
