Thermos relocates HQ to Schaumburg

Thermos L.L.C. has signed a long-term lease to relocate its international headquarters from Meadows Corporate Center, in Rolling Meadows, to 21, 081 square feet at 475 N. Martingale Road, in the 425/475 Woodfield Corporate Center office development in Schaumburg, Ill.

Fifth Third expands to 218,135 sf at 222 S. Riverside Plaza

CB Richard Ellis represented Fifth Third Bank in its renewal and expansion at 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Chicago. Expanding by 35,000 sf, the financial services company will now occupy 218,135 sf, which includes retail space on the 1st floor of the building, and office space on the 29-34th floors. The transaction serves as the Chicago CBD’s largest renewal transaction thus far in 2011.

Bixby Bridge and Franklin Partners acquire MetroWest in Naperville

Bixby Bridge Capital and Franklin Partners have partnered to acquire 55 Shuman Blvd., a 205,000-square-foot, high-profile office building in Naperville, Ill. Known as MetroWest, the property was designed by Helmut Jahn with a distinctive N-shaped sloping façade and is one of the most recognizable buildings in Chicago’s western suburbs. Terms of the all-cash transaction were not disclosed. The owner of record will be BBC MetroWest LLC.

Duke Realty enjoys busy times in Cincinnati market

In another sign that the commercial real estate market is in the early -- very early -- stages of a recovery, Duke Realty Corporation recently released a solidly positive report from its Cincinnati office showing that the company's activity in that Midwest city was on the rise.
