Kaegi elicits mixed reactions at SIOR/AIRE/CCIM event

New Cook County Assessor, Fritz Kaegi, is traveling around the county to articulate his new policies and platform, including a recent speech to a packed room at the May meeting of the Chicago Chapter of Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), co-hosted with the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE) and the Illinois chapter of CCIM. Attendees represented a mixed crowd of supporters, detractors and those who came simply to listen and learn.

JLL to complete acquisition of HFF next week

Chicago-based JLL and HFF, Inc. announced today that the parties have received the requisite regulatory approvals and that JLL's acquisition of HFF is expected to close on Monday, July 1, 2019. The deal will occur after the close of regular trading hours on the New York Stock Exchange, pending approval by HFF stockholders at the HFF annual stockholders meeting and subject to the satisfaction or waiver of other customary closing conditions.

First phase of Bears' Halas Hall modernization completed

Mortenson recently completed the first phase of the partial demolition, expansion and renovation of Halas Hall, the iconic Lake Forest, Illinois headquarters of the Chicago Bears. The first phase, turned over on April 1, focused on football operations and included demolition of part of the original facility and building a 165,000-square-foot addition with partial basement.

Graycor takes on Tough Mudder, aiming to raise over 50K for ALS Association

Graycor Family of Companies, including Graycor Construction Company Inc., Graycor Industrial Constructors Inc. and Graycor Southern Inc., will participate in the Tough Mudder event to raise money for charity for the fourth consecutive year. The Chicago team will tackle the 10-12-mile obstacle course in Rockford, Illinois on Saturday, August 24, 2019, with the goal of raising $50,000 for the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter.
