Principle Construction hires Phil VanDuyne as director of pre-construction services

Rosemont, Illinois-based Principle Construction Corp. has hired Phil VanDuyne as director of pre-construction services. In his new role, VanDuyne will be responsible for estimating project costs, managing planning processes, drafting and reviewing contractual documents, coordinating with management, design and construction professionals and providing budgets and schedules for the team.

“With more than 33 years of experience in Chicago area construction, Phil’s expertise will be a valuable asset to our team,” said James A. Brucato, co-owner of Principle Construction. “We’re looking forward to working with him in his new role at Principle.”

Most recently, VanDuyne was a capital project consultant and owner’s representative for Simpson Strong-Tie in West Chicago. The project included expansion and remodeling of office, R&D and QC labs, training centers and demonstration rooms; conversion of the existing distribution space to a manufacturing use; a manufacturing area addition and a tank and silo farm.

Prior to that, VanDuyne was a partner at Itasca Construction Associates, Inc., where he was employed from 1984 to 2015. While there, Phil was involved with many design-build commercial construction projects from site development to tenant finish outs. He has a wide variety of commercial construction experience, from the field as well as from project and senior management roles.

VanDuyne earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983.
