Nixon Peabody broadens real estate practice in Chicago

Nixon Peabody is expanding its real estate practice with the arrival of partner David B. Allswang. Allswang, who will help lead the firm’s real estate practice in Chicago, focuses his practice on commercial leasing.

Allswang has a national reputation for negotiating and drafting—on behalf of landlords and tenants—office, industrial and retail leases in locations around the United States. He advises clients on the acquisition and disposition of properties as well as formation issues related to corporate structure.

In addition, David advises borrowers in connection with loans secured by real estate. The reach of David’s practice extends beyond the U.S. to countries such as Israel, Mexico, China, Canada and the U.K.

“David is well-known and well-respected in the real estate field, both in the U.S. and abroad,” said Denise Pursley, leader of Nixon Peabody’s real estate practice. “Our national platform will be an excellent springboard for David to expand his practice. We’re excited to welcome him to our firm.”

“As the real estate industry faces change and disruption, David knows how to help clients structure, negotiate and close complicated real estate deals with an eye towards the future,” added David R. Brown, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Chicago office. “He brings an innovative approach and deep industry knowledge. We’re excited to introduce David to our clients in the Chicago area and beyond.”

David joins Nixon Peabody from Holland & Knight where he was co-chair of the commercial leasing team. He earned both a BS, magna cum laude, and a JD from Boston University.
