Morgan / Harbour Construction has broken ground on a new, 135,000-square-foot, four-story office build-to-suit for Hub Group. The new building, located on Clearwater Drive in Oak Brook, Illinois, is the second phase of construction for the supply chain solutions provider’s headquarters. Solomon Cordwell Buenz is providing the architectural services. Completion is scheduled for September 2020.
“We are excited to again work with Hub Group in completing the next phase of their headquarters property,” said Dan Hession, executive vice president and partner of Morgan / Harbour.
Phase I was originally completed by Morgan / Harbour in 2014 and at the time was the first new office building in Oak Brook since 2000. This first office building received LEED Gold certification from the USGBC and features underground parking, natural habitat landscaping, ponds and walking trails. Phase II represents the planned expansion of the headquarters facility on the 29-acre site located along the I-88 Tech Corridor.
In Phase II, Morgan / Harbour will construct a replica of the Phase I building with open work areas, private offices, conference rooms throughout and a fitness center. The buildings will be connected via an underground walkway. Sustainable building features will include high-efficiency HVAC, energy efficient lighting controls and storm water harvesting. Vice president Joe Zosky will lead the project for Morgan / Harbour with Andy MacMillan as project executive, Michael Turner as project manager, and Gary Bertoncini as superintendent.
“Hub Group’s customer-focused approach has led to sustained, long-term growth, especially as we continue to innovate with technology,” said Hub Group’s CEO, David Yeager. “Morgan / Harbour did an outstanding job on Phase I, and we look forward to working with them on Phase II as we add much-needed room here in Oak Brook for our employees.”
