Minneapolis' The Weidt Group earns energy simulation award

The United States regional affiliate of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA-USA) recently awarded Minneapolis’ The Weidt Group, an energy and software consulting firm, with its IBPSA-USA Award for Outstanding Practice.

Doug Wolf, director of software development at The Weidt Group, accepted the award on behalf of the company during the 2018 Building Performance Analysis Conference and SimBuild. The conference took place Sept. 26-28 in Chicago.

The Award for Outstanding Practice is presented to an individual, group or firm who has made significant contributions to the effective application and/or advancement of building simulation. The Weidt Group was nominated for the award by LHB, a multi-disciplinary engineering, architecture and planning firm.

From affordable housing to corporate office buildings, The Weidt Group’s energy modeling has helped save more than $660,000 a year for LHB clients alone, with an average payback of five years. LHB and The Weidt Group have also teamed to develop and support the State of Minnesota SB2030 Energy Standard, which mirrors the progressive energy performance goals of Architecture 2030.

“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of The Weidt Group,” said Wolf. “We are proud of our advancements in energy simulation and will continue to strive for increased technological advancements in our founding state of Minnesota, the Midwest and beyond. We are thrilled to have our efforts recognized by IBPSA.”
