Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois-based commercial real estate firm NAI Hiffman has hired John Basile as senior vice president. He will operate in the firm’s rapidly expanding industrial services team.

Formerly a vice president with Colliers International, Basile works with owners, tenants, landlords and developers in the leasing, sale and development of industrial properties. He also works with multi-market clients across North America to penetrate new markets, exit underperforming markets and maximize their supply chain efficiencies.

“John has always stood out in the industry as professional, ethical and dedicated in his pursuit of the proper solutions for his clients, whether they are tenants or property owners. We are excited about adding John as not only a respected brokerage professional, but also for the skills and experience he brings to our firm from his varied transaction history,” said Michael Flynn, NAI Hiffman chief operating officer.

Basile brings significant food and cold storage expertise to the team, having completed more than 82 transactions valued at more than $180 million in this industrial space over the past three years. Notable clients include The Chefs’ Warehouse, Amigos Foods, Esmark Steel, Evergreen Industrial Properties, Brennan Investments and Hertz Corporation, among others.

“There are many great real estate brokerage firms in Chicago, but none combine a strong platform with a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit as effectively as NAI Hiffman. It’s the best of both worlds for me, and I am excited to serve my clients with this growing firm,” said Basile.

Prior to his entry into commercial real estate, Basile worked as an adolescent mental health counselor, providing one-on-one and group counseling to at-risk youth suffering from mental illness and drug abuse. He is a graduate of University of Chicago, and received his MBA from DePaul University and is currently the chairman of the executive board of directors for Catholic Charities, sitting on their finance, housing development and Head Start committees.
