Alicona, a global supplier of optical 3D surface measurement solutions, recently moved their U.S. headquarters to Itasca from Bartlett, Illinois. The Austrian-based firm has been hiring and expanding their product line leading up to the move and will bring an initial 10 to 15 jobs to the area.
The new office space occupies approximately 4,000 square feet at 150 Perice Road, a part of the Hamilton Lakes business park. Developed by Hamilton Partners, the master-planned Hamilton Lakes development has approximately 3.5 million square feet of office space and 80 additional acres of development land at the intersection of Thorndale Avenue and I-355. On-site amenities include an athletic club, a daycare center, full service restaurants and DASH car transportation to and from the Itasca Metra station.
“Hamilton Lakes, and specifically 150 Pierce, provides Alicona with the best combination of quality, visibility and accessibility as we introduce new products in the North American market,” said Stefan Scherer, CEO of Alicona.
Organizations like Choose DuPage Economic Development Alliance have fostered foreign-direct investment over the past few years to open their areas up to world markets. Efforts like these have led to, in DuPage County’s case, roughly 1000 locations of foreign-based firms representing 43 countries locating in the area, providing workforce opportunities throughout the region.
“Foreign-direct investment is a powerful engine for economic growth and prosperity creating jobs and spurring innovation,” said John Carpenter, president and CEO of Choose DuPage. “Alicona is a world-class global leader in technology and we are excited to welcome them to DuPage. Our market is robust, and we are proud to continue serving as an economic development model for the Chicagoland region community.”
