Ernest Spina joins Principle Construction as senior project manager

Principle Construction Corp. has hired Ernest “Ernie” J. Spina as a project manager. Spina has more than 35 years of experience in the construction management and design build industry. He has a strong background in developing team strategies for budget control and time management. In his new role he will be responsible for interfacing with clients and architects and managing field operations.

“Ernie’s high level of experience will help our team fine-tune its skills to serve our clients even more efficiently,” said Principle Construction co-owner James A. Brucato. “He will be able to mentor our younger project managers and bring new ideas to the team.”

Spina joins the team from Gilbane Construction Company, where he worked as senior project manager II. In that role, he established budgets and schedules, oversaw field personnel, worked with architects and owners on pre-construction services and met weekly with owners for board presentations and reports. He has also worked with MTI Construction Services LLC, CMC Construction Services, Inc. and Brown & Associates, Inc. Spina has managed more than $330 million in projects, including several schools, police and fire facilities, car dealerships, churches and recreational buildings.

Spina attended LaSalle University in Louisiana and DeVry Institute in Illinois. He is a certified LEED Green Associate and LEED AP in Illinois.
