The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation will host their 13 th annual Career Day November 7th to 8th, which kicks off at The Standard Club. The event is designed to bolster young careers, allowing students the unique opportunity to network with industry leaders, while gaining valuable exposure to the Chicago real estate world.
Students will be granted inside access to two exclusive real estate development projects. The first, Gallagher Way, which includes the Zachary Hotel at 3630 N. Clark Street, developed by Hickory Street Capital that—like the Cubs team and Wrigley Field—falls under the control of the Ricketts family. The seven-story, 238,000-square-foot hotel serves as a year-round amenity to Wrigleyville and is credited with the transformation of the neighborhood. They will also visit the Addison & Clark development by Bucksbaum Properties; a mixed use project with 150,000 square feet of retail, 150 multifamily units and a movie theater.
The second, McDonald’s global headquarters at 110 N. Carpenter, the former site of Harpo Studios in the West Loop. The new ground-up, nine-story building is a build-to-suit collaboration between Sterling Bay, McDonald’s and Gensler architects. The 580,000-square-foot development was a major move for the brand, as they were synonymous with Oak Brook for decades and made a radical change which was deeper than just the real estate. The state of the art facility will be an essential part of attracting talent to their workforce, and further defines the West Loop neighborhood.
In addition to the site tours, students are invited to attend a professional panel featuring rising stars in the real estate industry, a roundtable luncheon with industry leaders and a career/internship fair. Throughout the two-day experience, over 100 of the brightest real estate students from across the country will convene with top real estate professionals to create an educational experience that lasts far beyond the conclusion of the event. The benefits are twofold: dedicated college and graduate students are provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with the industry’s leading figures, and companies are exposed to new talent.
“The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation has been supporting careers of young talent within the real estate community for over 20 years,” said Christian Williams, Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation board member, career day chair and senior vice president with CBRE. “This year students will be able to see the inner workings of both projects, hear the story behind the development, the business plans, how the sites were chosen, what it took to get necessary approvals and more. It’s so much more than can be taught in a classroom and we’re passionate about providing that experience.”
The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation is committed to bolstering the careers of aspiring real estate students and young professionals through its education programs, including mentorships, scholarships, accredited courses, career counseling and other impactful events similar to Career Day.
