Kavitha Marudadu, AIA, LEED, has been promoted from project architect to associate principal for Evanston, Illinois-based DMAC Architecture. In this new role, she will spearhead projects under the guidance of Dwayne MacEwen, AIA, principal and creative director of DMAC, while providing high-caliber design and services.

For the past 10 years, Marudadu has worked on notable projects for the architectural firm, including the newly opened Midtown Athletic Club and Hotel in Chicago. Marudadu has been involved in all aspects of its design and management, including the master plans for the 55-room Hotel at Midtown and its 250,000-square-foot, six-story wellness club. Other notable projects include 900 Shops in Chicago, Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and High Limit Lounge in Pittsburgh.

Since its founding in 1995, DMAC Architecture relies on the diverse experiences of its staff to craft each project and Marudadu brings a unique understanding. She grew up in Chennai, India—a dense urban city, where she became interested in creating design solutions for scarce environments—in the hopes of impacting everyday life. “It was this fascination and my general interest in art that directed me to choose architecture as a medium to explore the art of making spaces,” Marudadu said.
