The Hotel Elkhart in Elkhart, Indiana, was originally built by a collection of civic leaders in 1923 and served as “Northern Indiana’s Finest Hotel” for decades thereafter. After serving as affordable apartments since the mid-1970s, the Hotel Elkhart will once again offer overnight lodging thanks to a $15 million project led by Cressy Commercial Real Estate.
Upon completion in the Spring of 2020, the Hotel Elkhart will offer 93 full-service boutique guest rooms, a regionally branded café, a taproom/bar, breakout meeting space and a fully-renovated ninth floor Athenian Ballroom offering views from a rooftop deck.
Cressy Commercial Real Estate, led by Ed Bradley, says the Hotel Elkhart project is a clear indication of the momentum of the downtown as evidenced by the Elkhart Health and Aquatic Center as well as the projects associated with the River District Project.
The development group has been awarded funding from the State of Indiana’s Regional Cities Initiative.
The City of Elkhart has also been a key partner as it has plans to make improvements to the surrounding streetscaping, existing parking garage and the ingress/egress on Marion Street.
