SVN Chicago facilitates land sale in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood,ph1

A 19,000-square-foot land site, comprised of two adjacent parcels, sold at 5015-5019 N. Clark Street in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Tim Rasmussen, CCIM, Christian Peppler, Shane Sackett and Marcus Sullivan of SVN | Chicago Commercial represented the seller and were the sole brokers in the transaction. The land sold for $2,185,000.

The parcel marks the location of Man’s Country, a private club and bathhouse that recently shuttered after operating for 44 years. The bathhouse was founded by the late Chuck Renslow, widely regarded as an icon among Chicago’s LGBTQ community. The buyer, Quest Realty Group, plans to redevelop that site into a condominium building, while paying homage to the former owner in naming the project The Renslow.

Rasmussen, an assistant vice president at SVN, reiterated the property’s historical significance. “It epitomizes the neighborhood’s diverse history and culture. It’s long-standing presence laid the foundation for what Andersonville is today,” he said. “It made for a very seemly ending, which was a privilege to oversee.”

A men’s lifestyle storefront that leases space on the opposite parcel will continue to operate under a long-term lease agreement. Quest Realty Group is currently in the process of obtaining neighborhood approval for the proposed condominium building.
