Verizon Wireless has announced plans to move its Elgin, Illinois-based Care Center next year to the recently renovated Continental Towers at 1701 Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

The new 159,900-square-foot space offers the company significantly more room than its current 125,000-square-foot space at 777 Big Timber Rd.

Verizon employs 900 staff members at its Elgin Care Center, which includes the Customer Service, IT and Human Resources departments. In addition, the center is also home to Verizon’s only national online social support team. Employee groups will begin moving to the Rolling Meadows location the first quarter of 2016, with the transition scheduled to be completed by the second quarter.

“The move and larger space will also allow us to accommodate up to 200 new full-time jobs,” Brian Pascoe, region president for Verizon, said. “The added resources will help ensure we continue to provide the best customer experience in the industry.”

The new location will provide for a greatly enhanced work environment for Verizon employees, including a state-of-the art on-site cafeteria, health and wellness center and more conference space.

In addition, Verizon continues to grow in Illinois by adding additional points of distribution and expanding its sales organization. More than 2,400 employees currently work for Verizon in Illinois, 1,800 in the Chicagoland area, to meet the needs of customers locally.

Continental Towers, owned by GlenStar, recently completed the first phase of a two-phase, $15 million capital improvement plan that features updated lobbies, renovated tenant corridors and washrooms, as well as upgraded elevator systems. Phase two broke ground this spring and includes a fully redesigned site plan, new main entrance, covered pick-up/drop-off areas and a multi-level parking deck. It was awarded LEED Silver certification.

CBRE’s David Justh, David Saad and Kevin Riley represented Verizon in the transaction.  David Trumpy and Bill Debb represented ownership.
