Mortenson Development began construction Feb. 19 on a nine-story 211-room Hampton Inn & Suites at First Avenue and Eighth Street in downtown Minneapolis. The new hotel will be located near Target Field, Target Center and the city's entertainment district.

Mortenson Development began construction Feb. 19 on a nine-story 211-room Hampton Inn & Suites at First Avenue and Eighth Street in downtown Minneapolis. The new hotel will be located near Target Field, Target Center and the city's entertainment district.

The $37 million project is scheduled to be complete in the first quarter of 2015. It will be the first Hampton Inn & Suites in the city of Minneapolis.

ESG Architects of Minneapolis designed the hotel.
