Minneapolis-based Oppidan Investment Company recently celebrated the opening of its Savage Sports Center development in Savage, Minn.

The Savage Sports Center is a 108,100-square-foot seasonal athletic facility located in Savage Community Park in Savage, Minn. The air-inflated structure houses three fields and three batting cages as well as golf netting. An attached 5,000-square-foot building houses concession areas, a lounge, restrooms and offices. The city built the Savage Sports Center to provide indoor training space for local youth athletic groups and to expand recreational opportunities for the community.

“The Sports Center is an important development for the City of Savage as we strive to meet the diverse athletic and recreational needs of our growing community,” said Barry Stock, city administrator with the city of Savage. “Oppidan did a great job of understanding our needs and our vision for the facility, and we are grateful for their partnership and hard work.”

The Sports Center, which is owned by the city, will be open from November through April and will be used primarily by sports organizations such as the Burnsville Athletic Club, Prior Lake Athletics for Youth and the Prior Lake/Savage Soccer Club. The groups will rent fields for specific blocks of time, and the proceeds will go toward operational and debt service costs. From May through October, the dome will be removed, and the turf will still be available for use.
