The former Moonlight Industries facility at 5320 West River Drive in Comstock Park, Michigan, was purchased by Dr. John’s Sugar Free Candies, Colliers International|West Michigan announced today.
Moonlight Industries, an industrial painting company, closed its doors in April 2018 after owners Dan and Sue Falk announced their retirement in 2017.
The 22,500-square-foot facility was under contract within a week of going on the market in April. The separated layout of the building was a perfect fit for Dr. John’s Sugar Free Candies because it is divided into sections to house different candy lines with the ability to control humidity and other factors.
Dr. John’s Sugar Free Candies is expanding production in addition to its current locations in Comstock Park and White Pigeon. Dr. John’s started out creating great sugar-free lollipops, solely for the dental industry, and has grown and innovated for more than 20 years.
Dr. John’s was founded by Dr. John Bruinsma and his wife Debra in 1995 and produces a full line of all-natural, sugar-free candies, including lollipops, hard candies, caramels, taffy, gourmet chocolates, chocolate bars, mints and gum.
