The Chicago chapter of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR) recently named their new executive board officers for the year 2019. Dan Benassi, SIOR, of Entre Commercial Realty will lead the organization, which includes nearly 200 of the top office and industrial real estate brokers in the Chicago market.
Additional board members include David Ariola, SIOR, of Chicago Realty Company as treasurer; Tom Boyle, SIOR, of Lee and Associates as vice president; Chris Gary, SIOR, of NAI Hiffman as director at large; Mark Nelson, SIOR of Nelson Hill as secretary and Daniel Smolensky, SIOR, of Taurus Modal Group as past president.
The chapter and the SIOR Foundation also awarded five scholarships totaling $15,000, with each of five students receiving a scholarship of $3,000. The Chicago Chapter of SIOR 2018 scholarship committee included Sean Henrick, SIOR, of Cushman and Wakefield and Adam Marshall, SIOR, of Newmark Knight Frank. The recipients were Brandon Crawford of DePaul University, Sarah Eisenberg of Roosevelt University, Alexander Hansen of Northwestern University, Aana Tsakiris of University of Illinois and Lillian Yool of Roosevelt University.
Since 1984, the SIOR Chicago chapter has provided nearly $186,400 in real estate scholarships to 73 students. The program recognizes and rewards outstanding academic performance in business and real estate courses. In addition to education funding, recipients are also provided access to career opportunities and internship programs available within the Chicago real estate community. Professor Roger Cannaday, associate professor emeritus at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign helped create the SIOR Chicago Scholarship award.
