Andy James to lead local DP Partners office

Andrew D. James has joined DP Partners as partner-Chicago, announced Par Tolles, president of DP Partners, a member of Reno, Nev.-based Dermody Properties.

James, 45, is responsible for the development of all commercial facilities and parks, the acquisition of developable land, and the investment in existing commercial buildings in the Chicago region.

Most recently James formed Chicago-based J4 Investments LLC, a private development and investment company. "The prospect of teaming up with true professionals who are proven entrepreneurs presented an opportunity that I could not pass up," James said. "I am excited to join forces with DP given its vast resources, new business platform and impressive track record. Our plan is to work with the brokerage community to expand DP's Chicago holdings through the acquisition of land for build-to-suit and speculative industrial buildings and parks and the acquisition of existing commercial facilities for investment purposes."

James is well known for his seven years representing the Chicago office of Indianapolis-based Duke Realty Corp. As Duke's senior vice president-Chicago Industrial, he was responsible for land acquisition, development, redevelopment, and leasing of the company's industrial portfolio in the Chicago metropolitan area. In 2004, James' group was named Duke's "Industrial Sales Team of the Year," and in 2007 Crain's Chicago Business named Duke "Developer of the Year."

Prior to that, James served as vice president of Development & General Counsel for the Indianapolis-based suburban office developer of Browning Investments Inc., and as litigation partner with the Chicago-based law firm of Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella.

A native of Indianapolis, James has lived in Chicago since 1989. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Tulane University in New Orleans and earned his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind.
