1302 North Meridian
One of downtown Indianapolis' historic landmarks, 1302 North Meridian, is slated for remodeling and is currently seeking new tenants, according to Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.

The 54,000-square-foot three-story office building in Indianapolis has a heritage rooted in the history of Indianapolis' automotive industry.

Originally constructed as a showroom for General Motors' Buick automobiles in 1923, its opening marked the entry of the Detroit-based automotive industry into the Indianapolis market. In 1932 the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors acquired the showroom and throughout the decades that followed the building was utilized by such varied companies as a car dealership, a department store and a business furniture company. Most recently it was occupied by Extra Space Storage.

Located on the northwest corner of 13th and Meridian Street, the building boasts excellent views of downtown Indianapolis, ample free parking and easy access to interstates 65 and 70 and the Central Business District. Additional features include classical exterior detailing and a unique cantilevered concrete slab construction.

Locally-based Shiel Sexton has been contracted for the remodeling project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

"We're extremely thrilled for the opportunity to breathe new life into one of Indianapolis' true historic treasures. Shiel Sexton is committed to retaining the defining characteristics that make 1302 North Meridian such an exceptional structure along the North Meridian corridor, and we're excited about the possibility of helping attract new tenants to the area," said Buddy Hennessey, executive vice president of Shiel Sexton.

After completing the remodel, Shiel Sexton will seek LEED-CI Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the building, which is listed on the Indiana Register of Historic Sites and Structures.

The building currently features up to 38,000 square feet of office space available for lease on the first, second and a portion of the third floor.

John Crisp, vice president with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker - Indianapolis, has been chosen as the exclusive marketing agent for space.

Effective Dec. 1, August Mack Environmental, an environmental consulting and engineering firm, will occupy the majority of the third floor. August Mack will be relocating its headquarters from its current Indianapolis location.
