A Wisconsin-based third-party logistics provider has signed a long-term lease for 148,481 square feet of warehousing space in a LEED Silver-certified building in Joliet. The facility, which was built in 2009, is located at 4101 Olympic Boulevard in the 250-acre Rock Run Business Park near the Interstate-80-Houbolt Road interchange. WEL Companies' lease accounts for roughly 40 percent of the 339,741-square-foot building. Rock Run Business Park is owned and managed by Atlanta-based IDI, Inc. Other tenants in the park include Mack Trucks, Petco Animal Supplies, Tyco Healthcare, Corporate Express and Unisource. WEL is moving from an existing facility in nearby Plainfield. The company is headquartered in DePere, Wis. WEL has 10 temperature-controlled warehouses nationwide and handles refrigerated, frozen and dry freight in LTL and truckload capacities, while providing warehousing and pool distribution services. WEL is experienced in transporting foodstuffs such as cheese, ice cream, meat, juice, candy and other types of refrigerated, frozen, and dry commodities. Sean Henrick and Jason West of Cushman & Wakefield completed the transaction on behalf of the tenant, WEL. IDI was represented by its own Jeff Smith and by Hugh Williams of Avison Young.
