by Midwest Real Estate News ReportsMinnesotaDuke Construction's mixed-use West End project, located in St. Louis Park, Minn., has been recognized as a Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (MNSHARP) project by the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA). This designation, which has been given only to a few select construction projects since its inception in 2007, recognizes large projects that develop a safety and health program that goes beyond basic compliance with all applicable MNOSHA standards and results in reduced job-related injuries and illnesses. "We are extremely proud to have the West End project receive the MNSHARP designation," said Gary Gleason, vice president of construction for Duke Realty's Minnesota operations. "Our construction team, including all of our subcontractors, has done an exemplary job in developing and executing the project's safety program. The entire team was proactive in seeking this certification and working with representatives from MNOSHA to ensure that we had a comprehensive program in place to mitigate potential hazards on the job site." To earn the MNSHARP designation, companies must implement a comprehensive safety and health management program and have periodic site audits by a MNOSHA representative. If any hazards are identified by the MNOSHA representative, corrections must be made. Changes in working conditions that introduce new hazards into the workplace must be shared with the MNOSHA representative throughout the project. In addition, the project must incur fewer injuries to workers than what other construction projects experience. More Articles
