by Midwest Real Estate News ReportsMinnesotaEagan, Minn.-based Eagan Place, a medical professional building designed by Genesis Architecture and built by Welsh Construction, has earned LEED® Silver Certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). Eagan Place achieved LEED certification for its environmentally-friendly plumbing, lighting and HVAC components. By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for the community. The design of the building also allows for the protection and preservation of rare native plants within the natural wetland bordering the site. Developed by MSP Commercial, Eagan Place is a 32,800-square-foot facility in Eagan, Minn., featuring patient drop-off and pick-up areas, and window spacings specific to exam rooms that serve the needs of medical tenants. Anchor tenants include HealthEast Care Systems and Dermatology Consultants. In June, this project was named to Minnesota Physician's 2009 Health Care Architecture Honor Roll, which recognizes nine outstanding projects in the Twin Cities completed within the past year. The winning facilities differed in intended uses, but shared a focus on efficiency and patient-centered care. They also emphasized the importance of the natural environment in healing, featuring nature-inspired color and design schemes, and gardens for patients and families to enjoy. Welsh Construction's Eagan Place project team included Mike Kuehn, project manager; Mike Milless, field superintendent; Julie Pelletier, project assistant; and Cassie Johnson, project manager and LEED® AP. Eagan Place is the second Welsh Construction and Genesis Architecture project to have achieved LEED certification. Welsh's headquarters, located in Minnetonka, Minn., is LEED Gold Certified.
