Construction set to start on Brooklyn Center FBI office

Construction is slated to start in the fall on a new $53.7 million field office for FBI agents in Brooklyn Center, Minn.

The office, to be built along Freeway Boulevard and Highway 100 on an 8.26-acre site, will have up to 140,000 square feet of space, more than doubling the agency's current 60,000-square-foot downtown Minneapolis FBI office.

The new office is expected to be completed by spring 2011 and will include a five-story office building, an enclosed garage and a one-story annex for automotive repairs and other maintenance.

Barry Real Estate Companies, Inc., has been awarded the project, which is expected to cost $40 million.
