Opus Northwest chosen for KSU building

Minneapolis-St. Paul

Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, has chosen Minneapolis' Opus Northwest to design and build its new School of Leadership studies facility.

"K-State is excited about the opportunity to work with a premier company like Opus," Jon Wefald, president, said. "The School of Leadership Studies is truly a unique program. Once completed, this building will provide a home for this program that continues to prepare our students to become strong leaders in their college and professional careers."

The $11 million project, which has a goal of LEED Silver certification, will be funded entirely through private donations under the auspices of the KSU Foundation.

The 36,000-square-foot, two story building design is inspired by the "Arts and Crafts" architectural style and will use Kansas limestone on its exterioir. The building will feature a 220-seat town hall auditorium, six open meeting spaces, the Cargill Cetner for Ethical Leadership, classrooms, seminar rooms and office for faculty and student organizations.
