Bader Development in St. Louis Park, Minn., has gained preliminary approval for a 133-unit, mixed-used apartment building in St. Louis Park. The City Council will officially vote on the project later in the month.

The community, to be called The Ellipse on Excelsior, will be a five-story building on the current site of Al's Bar and Anderson Cleaners on the northwest the corner of France Avenue and Excelsior Boulevard. The 16,380-square-foot ground floor will be reserved as retail space.

Bader Development will remove the current buildings, remediate the soils and make utility improvements. Underground and surface parking will be added as well as a corner plaza.

Bader Development is responsible for the completed 132-unit The Groveland in Minneapolis' Loring Park, Minnetonka's 164-unit Waterstone Place and the 100-unit Cornelia Place Apartment Homes in Edina among other projects.
