Opus Northwest gets approval for Stadium Village housing development

by Jim Brubaker
Minneapolis-St. Paul

Construction will start next spring on Opus Northwest's Stadium Village housing and retail project in Minneapolis following final city approval this week. The project will officially be known as Campus Crossroads.

To be built at the corner of Oak Street and Washington Avenue, adjoining the East Bank Campus of the University of Minnesota and the new TCF Bank Stadium.

The plan currently calls for 177 apartments, from one- to four-bedrooms and adding 465 beds to the housing market, in an eight-story tower as well as 27,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The retail anchor for the project will be CVS Pharmacy. CVS will use half of the ground-floor space.

Designed in collaboration with Minneapolis-based ESG Architects, the L-shaped building will have two underground levels for parking.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2009 and be completed in fall 2010.
