The new ice sheet
The grand opening for Cottage Grove, Minn.'s new ice arena expansion, constructed by Kraus-Anderson, is slated for November 18. A free girls hockey game between Park and Bloomington Kennedy will highlight the evening as well as a free public skating from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The $6.8 million expansion, originally budgeted at $5.9 million, makes the arena the fifth largest in Minnesota. Construction began in April with skaters first taking to the ice on October 13.

The renovations for the arena include an expanded entrance and lobby, a link between the new 200-by-85-foot ice sheet and the old one, and new locker rooms. The new ice sheet features a concrete base, allowing for trade shows, conventions and other events to be be hosted and increase the revenue capability of the building.
