As the baby boomer generation continues to age, the need for additional senior housing also grows. McShane Construction Company was recently contracted by Avenida Partners LLC to create an active living apartment community for seniors in Naperville, Illinois. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 where Bob May, the managing partner of Avenida, spoke along with the mayor of Naperville, Steve Chirico.
May and Chirico both mentioned the importance of listening to Naperville residents and providing them with a new and diverse housing community for those over the age of 62. Their goal is to provide housing for Naperville residents who want to live in an active senior living community. “I am thankful for the investors who believed in this facility and helped bring it to the city of Naperville,” said Mayor Chirico. “I look forward to when the project is finished and the community is full of happy and healthy senior residents.”
The 203,000-square-foot Avenida Naperville project will consist of the construction of two- and three-story buildings. They will include a brick and stone veneer with James Hardie lap and panel siding, as well as vinyl windows and patio doors and quartz countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms. The amenities will focus heavily on healthy living, as a swimming pool, clubhouse area and exterior courtyard will be available for all residents to enjoy. The architect of record is Meeks + Partners. Construction will be completed in early 2020.
“Partnering with Avenida has been an exciting adventure,” said Jeffrey A. Raday, P.E., president of McShane Construction. “We are eager to see the buildings come together and create a dynamic living environment for active senior citizens.”
