McHugh Construction names VP in Nashville market

James McHugh Construction Co., the Chicago-based general contractor whose Nashville office opened in 2014, has promoted Ryan Keane to vice president. Keane, formally a senior project manager, will continue to oversee all construction operations for the company’s Nashville office while shifting additional attention to McHugh’s business development and relationship-building efforts across the market.

Keane joined McHugh Construction in 1999 as an intern and, in 2001, accepted his first full-time position with the company. He has held roles as estimator, project engineer, assistant project manager and structural project manager. After spending eight consecutive years managing construction for several projects owned by Magellan Development Group in Chicago, Keane relocated to Nashville in 2014 to lead construction of Magellan’s 313-unit luxury apartment tower, The SoBro.

Since then, he has helped solidify McHugh’s reputation as a full-service local builder, attracting talented individuals from leading firms and growing the company’s Nashville-based team from three to more than 25 full-time professionals.

Keane, who is responsible for all aspects of McHugh’s Nashville construction portfolio, has led construction of some of the city’s most exciting developments, including The SoBro and Kenect Nashville, the 20-story, 420-unit complex developed by Akara Partners slated to become the second largest apartment building in Nashville. The team has also recently completed construction of the Fieldhouse Jones Hotel, a 72,000-square-foot, 93-room boutique hotel in East Nashville.

Keane and the Nashville team show no signs of slowing down. In fact, McHugh crews are currently managing preconstruction for the Southall Inn & Spa outside Franklin, Tennessee, and recently broke ground on West End Residential, the 25-story, 358-unit residential complex on West End Avenue in Midtown. Additionally, Keane continues to pursue new opportunities that align with McHugh’s expertise across residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional development.
