New 30-unit apartment project breaks ground in Minneapolis

by Midwest Real Estate News Reports
Benson-Orth Associates on Dec. 15 celebrated the ground-breaking of Audubon Crossing Apartments, a three-story, 30-unit apartment project being developed by the partnership of MetroPlains Development and Families Moving Forward.

Located in Minneapolis, Audubon Crossing will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Benson-Orth started the demolition of the homes that once existed on the Audobon Crossing site in early November, and has since started work on footings and foundations.

When completed, Audubon Crossing will provide 26 affordable workforce units and an additional four units available for homeless families. Families Moving Forward, a faith-based nonprofit, will screen and place families in need.

The project is financed by the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, State of Minnesota and Tax Credit Assistance Program Funds, which are part of the recent federal stimulus package. DJR Architecture is performing design work and submitting the project for LEED certification.
