JE Dunn Construction has been selected to manage the design and construction of the Kansas Department of Corrections new facility at the Lansing Correctional Campus in Lansing, Kansas.
JE Dunn has completed more than 90 corrections facilities throughout the country. The Department of Corrections is leasing the facility from CoreCivic, one of the nation’s leading owners of criminal justice real estate leased to government. In association with DLR Group and Core Civic, the three teams have teamed on more than 20 projects nationwide, including the original construction and later expansion of the area’s Leavenworth Detention Center in Leavenworth, Kansas.
The 396,719-square-foot expansion will add new housing units, additional inmate beds, new intake units and associated support spaces. The design-build project includes space for medical services, food services, spiritual life, staff support areas, as well as indoor and outdoor recreation areas, ample site circulation and parking and improved lighting and security. Modern utility systems will provide significant cost and energy savings.
The Lansing Correctional Facility Replacement will also include energy saving shell design with top-of-the-line roofing system, highly-insulated walls systems and enhanced security systems as well as follow-on, local maintenance staff, locksmiths and professional services. The Design-Build process will take 24 months.
The DLR Group, out of Overland Park, Kansas, will serve as the architect and engineer.
