Chicago Association of REALTORS to install Maurice Hampton as 2020 president

The Chicago Association of REALTORS (CAR) will install Maurice Hampton of Centered | RCG as its 2020 president on September 26, 2019 at its 136th Annual Inaugural Gala. At the gala, Hampton will lay out his vision for the year ahead. His key message will be a call to action to REALTORS to think of themselves as civic leaders. He will empower CAR members to identify their purpose and hone in on the areas they believe they can make a difference.

Over the next year, Hampton will be driven to elevate CAR’s activities that supports the city of Chicago in providing mentorship opportunities for youth and professionals, building local and global relationships, identifying more affordable and equitable housing opportunities, as well as investing in historically underserved neighborhoods through placemaking initiatives.

Hailing from a diverse family of community leaders, Hampton is driven by the belief that doing one small act of service, through volunteerism, education, advocacy or mentorship, will create a ripple effect that can transform our communities. “Chicago is a beautiful city like no other,” Hampton said. “However, not all of our communities were created equally; as REALTORS, we are in a unique position to make a difference and help each of our 77 neighborhoods thrive and receive equitable services and housing opportunities.”

Since starting his brokerage, Centered | RCG, in 2009, Hampton has built strong relationships in the community and among his REALTOR colleagues. While managing his office, Hampton has served as a CAR director, chair of the CAR young professionals network committee, global real estate council and finance committee as well as vice-chair of the continuing education task force. At the state-level, Hampton has held leadership positions on the Illinois REALTORS major investor working group, political fundraising group and young professionals network. He has also completed the Illinois REALTORS Leadership Development Program.

Hampton further shows his leadership abilities through his work as an instructor with CAR’s REALTORS Real Estate School, where he teaches courses such as the NAR Green Designation, Real Estate Negotiation and the Guide to Assisting Real Estate Professional. Hampton holds numerous professional designations himself, including the Broker Price Opinion Resource, Accredited Buyer Representative, Seller Representative Specialist and Certified International Property Specialist designations.

The Inaugural Gala will install their board of 20 directors, honor the 2019 REALTOR Award recipients and induct the 2019 Hall of Fame honoree on Thursday.
