CBRE appoints Abe Gamboa as project management Midwest division leader

CBRE has appointed Abe Gamboa to the position of Midwest division leader for project management (PJM). In his new role, Gamboa is responsible for providing line of business support and leadership for the Midwest Division which includes 14 offices and approximately 150 employees, including the Chicago-based CBRE | Heery team.

He replaces Jim Carter, who is moving into a key business development role focused on the pursuit of new clients in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Gamboa previously served as managing director of PJM for Chicago and Milwaukee, with responsibility for all facets of the PJM business. He was recognized as Project Manager of the Year by the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards in 2016 and 2018.

“Abe has proven to be a true leader at CBRE who has taken our project management business to new heights in Chicago and Milwaukee,” said John Latessa, president of CBRE’s Midwest division. “With this promotion and expanded responsibilities, we look forward to working with him as part of our leadership team to deliver even better outcomes for our clients throughout entire Midwest region.”

Meanwhile, Carter will move into a senior business development role focused on building CBRE’s PJM advisory businesses in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Boston, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. With 30 years of experience in the industry, including 15 years with CBRE, Carter has deep knowledge of these markets and a strong record of growing CBRE’s PJM business—in the last two years, the PJM buiness in the Midwest grew by 35 percent under his leadership.
