The historic rehabilitation tax credit (the “HTC”) under Section 47 of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) has been particularly successful in attracting equity investment to these sometimes complex redevelopment projects with benefits to both investors and developers, while also preserving historically significant architecture.
