Burns & McDonnell grows Midwest architectural team

With more than 20 years of architectural design, project management and construction administration experience, Fritz Hengge joins Burns & McDonnell to lead manufacturing and industrial, pharmaceutical, institutional, commercial and food, beverage and consumer products projects throughout the Upper Midwest.

“We’re expanding our architectural services in the region to strengthen our ability to provide quick, unique, comprehensive solutions to our clients,” said Chris Freeman, Burns & McDonnell regional global facilities manager in Chicago. “Fritz has supported hundreds of multidiscipline projects throughout his career and brings technical depth and diverse experience to our growing team of professionals.”

Hengge is a registered architect in 18 states, a registered professional engineer in Wisconsin, a registered structural engineer in Illinois and a city of Chicago Self-Certification Architect. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional and holds an NCARB certification. Throughout his career, he has managed multimillion-dollar projects for industrial and manufacturing, institutional and municipal clients.

“I’ve been privileged to serve in many roles on complex projects, giving me a holistic perspective on what it takes to design and implement flexible, unique solutions for just about any facility—laboratory, industrial, warehouse, office space—that impacts the way people live and work,” Hengge said. “I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the design-build process and working with the diverse professionals at Burns & McDonnell to deliver high quality projects.”

Hengge holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a master’s degree in structural engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in project management from Northwestern University.
