Berkadia adds new talent to Milwaukee team

Berkadia has added director Joe Thomae to its Milwaukee mortgage banking team. With a diverse background in LIHTC, workforce and special needs housing, Thomae will expand the team’s expertise in the affordable housing space. He will report to senior managing director Mark Dellonte.

Prior to Berkadia, Thomae served as a director with Cardinal Capital Management, where he oversaw Information and Technology, Property Insurance and Construction Bonding and Social Services HUD Programs. He was a critical member of Cardinal’s development division, leading equity acquisitions and asset management for Section 8, Section 42, market and commercial properties. Thomae previously served in property management and oversight roles for Fiduciary Real Estate Development and TEAM Management, both Wisconsin-based residential and commercial real estate management firms.

Also joining Berkadia’s Milwaukee office is Matt Gardner, who comes onboard as a Senior Analyst. Gardner brings expertise in senior housing construction oversight, asset management and real estate valuation, most recently serving as a Commercial Construction Loan Administrator with BMO Harris Bank.

Thomae and Gardner join Berkadia’s newly established Milwaukee office, which has been steadily expanding since launching in May 2019 under Senior Managing Director Mark Dellonte and Director of Operations Amy Barry. Managing Director James Boris and Senior Analyst Bill O’Connor were brought onboard over the summer.
