Building upon decades of real estate experience and joining forces with one of the most successful development companies in Chicago, Magellan Investment Partners (MIP) launches today, expanding the firm’s reach into the acquisition of multifamily housing investment opportunities across the country.

Magellan Investment Partners, the newest branch of Magellan Development Group, will utilize the extensive and proven strength of its principals and partners in the areas of development, investment and asset management to acquire and renovate multifamily properties in targeted locations throughout the U.S.

David Levin, founder of Levin Realty Advisors, will be a principal and serve as Chief Investment Officer; Marc Swerdlow, former president and general counsel at Waterton Associates, will be a principal and serve as Chief Operating Officer; and David Carlins, President of Magellan Development Group, will be a principal and serve as Chief Development Officer.

With more than 75 years of combined experience, Levin, Swerdlow and Carlins plan to leverage their reputations, transactional experience and strong relationships with brokers, owners, lenders and property managers to create a robust portfolio of multifamily properties.

“We’re excited to partner with a company that has created such a real and lasting legacy within the industry, and especially in Chicago,” said MIP CIO David Levin. “There is great opportunity to take the Magellan brand into new markets across the country, and it will be an honor to serve as ambassadors of that brand as we get to work.”

“The values that we share with Magellan are simple: transparency, focus, entrepreneurialism and innovation,” said MIP COO Marc Swerdlow. “Together, using the fundamentals that we’ve built our careers on, Magellan Investment Partners will be able to provide a combination of stable and high-growth investment opportunities for its partners.”

“Partnering with David and Marc to expand Magellan’s services to include multifamily housing acquisition makes sense in every aspect,” said MIP CDO David Carlins. “Not only are they leaders in the field, but it provides Magellan with exciting opportunities to establish our name and brand on a national level.”
