Walker & Dunlop hires industry pro to take over healthcare finance division

Daniel Biron has joined Walker & Dunlop as senior vice president and group head of healthcare finance.

Biron will spearhead the growth of Walker & Dunlop’s healthcare group to originate senior debt financings for independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing homes and hospitals around the country utilizing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and HUD financing.

Howard Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Walker & Dunlop, commented, “I’m extremely pleased to have someone of Dan’s experience and track record joining Walker & Dunlop to grow our healthcare practice. His 25 years of experience in healthcare finance, including 16 years inside national nursing home operators, makes Dan ideally suited to meet our customers’ needs as the company continues to expand.”

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Biron was managing director of Lancaster Pollard Mortgage Company’s healthcare finance platform. He was responsible for directly and indirectly originating transactions in excess of $500 million.
