Summit Design Build selected as GC for Daily Meat Supply Co. build-out

Summit Design + Build, LLC has been selected as general contractor for an extensive remodel to an existing 25,600-square-foot facility for Daily Meat Supply Company in Chicago’s West Loop.
According to Adam Miller, president of Summit Design, the meat distributor purchased the property at 2323 W. Fulton Market and is relocating from its prior location at 1000 W. Fulton Avenue, also in Chicago, and selected the facility based on its central location within the city and parking ability for customers.
The renovations include a new 10,000-square-foot -10 degree freezer, 13,000 square feet of refrigerated cooler space, processing and loading dock area and 1,800 square feet of office space with mezzanine. The entire MEP system is being completely redone from new HVAC units, to all new refrigeration units, and new incoming electrical service. The construction also includes resurfacing of the parking lot and a new roof. Completion is scheduled for Fall 2010.
Summit Design + Build’s David Brown, project manager and Phil Larsen, superintendent, will be responsible for the on-site construction of Daily Meat Supply Company.
Cornerstone Architects is providing architectural services. Michael Nelson, vice president, and Mark Nelson, associate of Paine/Wetzel • ONCOR International, represented the selling entity, Image 23, and Greg Block of Millennium Real Estate represented Daily Meat Supply Company in the transaction.
