Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has been selected by the Wadena-Deer Creek School District in Wadena, Minn., to rebuild the high school that was destroyed by a tornado on June 17, 2010. Funding for the reconstruction will be approximately $30 million.
“Kraus-Anderson Construction came with spotless credentials and referrals, and we are thrilled this firm will play a central role in rebuilding our school,” said Dr. Virginia Dahlstrom, superintendent of Wadena-Deer Creek Schools.
John Huenink, vice president of Kraus-Anderson and director of the company’s education group, said he is acutely aware of the importance and urgency of getting the school – and community – back on its feet.
“Our quick-response construction team is often called upon to provide the reconstruction of significant buildings damaged or destroyed by natural disasters,” said Huenink. “We are extremely proud to be a part of this endeavor.”
Kraus-Anderson has provided construction services to many facilities around the country that have fallen victim to fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and other devastating incidents, including rebuilding the library, city government center, schools, senior living facilities, offices and businesses in East Grand Forks, Minn. (1997 Red River floods); public schools in Comfrey, Minn. (1998 tornado); Gustavus Adolphus College (1998 tornado); public schools in Ada, Minn. (1997 floods); public schools in North Branch, Minn. (2009 tornado); and several churches in the Panhandle of Florida (2004 Hurricane Ivan).
