Union Station Kansas City

Continuing with its strategy of housing community-centric services, Union Station Kansas City has announced a lease agreement with the Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS will be relocating its Taxpayer Assistance Center to a new space at Union Station, located in Kansas City , Mo. , in the fall. The current center will close on Oct. 1, while the new office will open Oct. 5.

“This is an exciting time for us,” said George Guastello, president and chief operating officer of Union Station Kansas City, Inc. “We consider Union Station, because of its history and unequaled iconic status, to be the ‘People’s Place.’ With that in mind, our goal is to use our available space to create a home for organizations like the IRS, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas City Area Development Council. These are all groups devoted to making Kansas City the best it can be — and what better place than right here?”

The IRS will occupy 4,400 square feet of space near the West lower-level entrance of Union Station. Zimmer Real Estate Services, L.C. is representing Union Station in its efforts to bring these services to the location. The team, comprised of Debora Field, Joyce Murray and Devin Schuster, have more than 60 combined years of experience in Kansas City real estate.

“We’ve had some experience with the IRS and their Tax Assistance Centers in the past, so we relished the opportunity to work with them again,” Murray said. “Union Station is a part of the fabric of Kansas City and we’re proud to be working with Union Station’s Board of Directors and management to help make their vision a reality.”

Other community offices at Union Station include Kansas City ’s main U.S. Post Office and the National Archives and Records Administration office. The station also serves as a hub for AmTrak rail service.
