Making downtown Indianapolis even stronger

One of my oldest son’s favorite vacations was our family trip years ago to downtown Indianapolis. It’s funny: We’ve dragged him across the country to Disney World, and it’s a four-hour trip to Indianapolis that he remembers most fondly.

I can see his point, though. Indianapolis’ downtown, especially when it’s lit up at night, is a great place. It’s vibrant. It’s busy. And it’s fun. You can’t ask for much more from a downtown.

I was reminding of my visit to Indianapolis after I posted this press release to our main Web site. The story focuses on the renovation work soon to begin at a pair of historic properties in downtown Indianapolis. From the renderings I’ve seen, this work can only add to the qualify of Indianapolis’ downtown.

So if you’re looking for a cheaper family vacation that doesn’t involve giant mice and space mountains, make the relatively short trek to Indianapolis — it’s close to just about every Midwest city — and take in the sights. And don’t forget to visit the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Your kids will love it.
